マルチコンテナモードが使われるとき、AutomationContainerIndexはアクティブなコンテナのインデックスを設定するために自動オブジェクトによって呼び出されます。その後、コンテナに関する情報を問い合わせるために呼び出されるすべてのプロパティとメソッドは、この値を使って実際のAnnContainerオブジェクトを取得します。通常、AutomationGetContainersCallbackから得られるコンテナのコレクションから。
デフォルトの実装はローカル変数にAutomationContainerIndexの値を保存します、そして、必要に応じてそれを使います。
